 Dr. Xue is a medical entomologist and parasitologist, who was trained at Shanxi Medical University, Chinese Academy of Medical Science, and Department of Entomology, University of Massachusetts.  He was an Assistant Professor of Medical Parasitology at the Department of Medical Parasitology & Entomology, Shanxi Medical University (1981-1986) and Associate Professor of Medical Entomology at the Department of Vector Biology and Control, Beijing Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology (1989-1991), Visiting Scientist, University of Massachusetts, Amherst (1991-1992), Research Associate, University of Florida/IFAS/MFREC (1992-1993), Research Entomologist, USDA/Center for Medical, Agricultural, and Veterinary Entomology, Gainesville, FL (1993-2003), Entomologist and Executive Director, Anastasia Mosquito Control District, St. Augustine, FL (2003-present). Dr. Xue was appointed as a courtesy faculty member at the Department of Entomology and Nematology, University of Florida, Gainesville (1994 to present) and Voluntary Associate Professor, Department of Public Health Sciences, University of Miami (2013-2015). He provided training for graduate students (Ph.D. and M.S.) through the University of Florida and many intern students and visiting scientists and post doctors at the District. His research interests include behavioral ecology, personal protection, surveillance techniques, insecticide toxicology, and biology and control of vector mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases. He has served as research committee members and peer reviewers for the Mosquito Research Foundation and Florida DACS Research Grant Review, other organizations, and journals. Dr. Xue is the authors and coauthors of more than 200 publications and book chapters. He received several awards from the Society of Vector Ecology (SOVE), Florida Mosquito Control Association (FMCA), and Florida Entomology Society (FES) and serve the FES and FMCA as President-Elect and the Regional Director of the SOVE. He has served the Conference Presidents for the International Forum for Surveillance and Control of Mosquitoes and Mosquito-borne Diseases (meeting holds every other year) since 2009 and consulted for several international organizations and private industries.
