Biography
Dr. Rodrigues earned her Ph.D. in Microbiology in 1999 at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after 2 years of training in biochemistry of microorganisms as a visiting scholar at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She obtained postdoctoral training in vascular development and cardiovascular research at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, respectively, setting up the basis for her current research interests. Dr. Rodrigues became Research Assistant Professor in 2007, at the Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the University of Miami. In 2009, she became an investigator of the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute, where her laboratory is based.
